Untitled by Nou
Nou is a Portland-based artist. She often draws a set of lines representing the face of a young girl. Text and context form the frame that separates this image from the others, locating many worlds in the same young face, onto which we can’t help but project. Sometimes the lines form a static yet narratively loaded field. Sometimes they form a progression of thought. Graffiti aligns her practice with attention toward embodiment, populism, and authenticity.
